The 2026 “Royal” subject choice day was one to remember! Grade 9 learners began the journey with an orientation to subject choice by Dr Barry, our Deputy Principal of Academics, during which they were given the framework and guidelines for the process. Next up were some inspiring presentations from M Hlatshwayo representing the Dramatic Arts Department, Ms Visser making mouths water with her descriptions of what Consumer Studies has to offer and Mr Maduenyane who reminded us of how Electrical Technology is interwoven with our daily lives.
The Subject Choice Evening was a resounding success with over 95% attendance from Royal parents. We really commend our parents on their support for the learners and for the school. Ms Boikhutso Johnson from WITS university gave an in-depth presentation tracing how subject choices and quality passes inform the journey into tertiary education and the world of work. The main message to all our Royals is: it is not the subjects that grant you access to your future, you need a quality pass to succeed in our increasingly competitive world.
